The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Texas offers a scholarship award to a resident of Texas, child or grandchild of a Veteran who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion: (1) April 6, 1917 through November 11, 1918 (WWI); (2) Any time after December 12, 1941 - All Wars or Conflicts. Selection of recipients shall be based upon goal, character, citizenship, need, objective, and war service of their father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, great-grandfather, or great-grandmother. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school for the 2024-2025 year. Three letters of recommendation are required: (1) from the principal or Counselor of the school from which the applicant is a graduate, or from the advisor or instructor of the current college or university; (2) from a representative citizen, certifying to the applicant's character, Americanism, and scholarship; (3) from the applicant's choice. The undergraduate award is intended for low income families and is intended to alleviate the financial burden of funding tuition fees. The Gulf Coast Hurricane Scholarship will be awarded to students who are residents of and attending school in select states and who have expressed an interest in plastics and are majoring in or taking courses beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include, but is not limited to, plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, journalism or communications. The Conditional Grant Program is available to eligible students pursuing a degree in engineering or a TxDOT-approved operational business discipline. The Conditional Grant Program will consider both Texas public and private four-year institutions. Due to COVID-19, emailed applications are now accepted. Mail-in applications are still accepted until April 1 if you choose not to send via email. Applicants may be a graduating high school student who has a minimum overall (cumulative) high school GPA of 2.50, has a minimum score of 900 on the SAT, or has a minimum score of 21 on the ACT. Applicants may also be a student enrolled in an undergraduate program with a minimum overall (cumulative) GPA of 2.50. The Will Winsborough Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Computer Science is an academic-based scholarship. The Gertrude Botts Saucier Scholarship will be awarded to students from eligible states in the United States. Undergraduate scholarships are available either until the student completes the degree or a maximum of 4 years, whichever comes first. Applicants must be the lineal (direct) descendant of an eligible Confederate (that is, one who served honorably in the Confederate Army, Navy, or Civil Service or who gave Material Aid to the Cause). Only members of UDC or CofC may apply on the record of collateral ancestors. Applicants must be endorsed by the Chapter President and the Chapter Second Vice President, Division President and by the Division Second Vice President. GED and recent SAT/ACT scores will be accepted without GPA if the applicant is not a high school graduate. Applicants must attend college or university in the United States. CDM Smith has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Applicants to the CDM Constructors Inc. Workforce Development Scholarship must be a high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in an eligible undergraduate program at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length and recipients must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed in August.
