This federally funded program offers grants to undergraduate students aging out of foster care who are attending an eligible postsecondary institution. Applicants must have graduated from high school or have received a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma. Applicants must be eligible for services under Pennsylvania's John H. Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood. They must be identified as a youth who has experienced foster care at age 16 or older or, after attaining 16 years of age, exited foster care to adoption or permanent legal custodianship; and have not reached the age of 26 by July 1 of the upcoming academic year for which Chafee ETG is received. Applicants must not be in default on a federal student loan or owe a refund on other Title IV aid and have not received Chafee ETG for 5 years (consecutive or not), defined as 10 semesters or the equivalent, for undergraduate study. The SBS Graduate Award, formerly known as "Zimmermann Scholarship", may be awarded to the graduate students with the highest cumulative Grade Point Average. Applicants must be or have one of their parents be a Swiss national. Applicants must be U.S. Residents. Applicants must be permanently domiciled in either New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or Delaware for two years or more. Applicants must study at a graduate school accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. On March 31, applicants must submit proof of their or their parent's Swiss citizenship; proof of applicant's U.S. citizenship or U.S. residency; and proof of cost for tuition, room and board (copy of bursar's bill). The PA Blind or Deaf Higher Education Beneficiary Grant Program provides financial aid to blind or deaf undergraduate or graduate students attending a postsecondary institution. Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time in a postsecondary institution and maintain satisfactory academic progress (as determined by the postsecondary institution). First-time applicants must submit a signed letter confirming you have been evaluated and are eligible to receive benefits from the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) or a completed, signed, and dated Medical Professional Certification Form from your physician regarding your visual and/or hearing impairment (located on the last page of the BDBG Application). The PA Postsecondary Educational Gratuity Program (PEGP) PEGP honors individuals who lost their lives protecting the citizens of Pennsylvania by helping their children fund their education. PEGP provides a waiver for eligible costs charged by public postsecondary institutions. To be considered for a PEGP waiver, applicants must be a child by birth or adoption of a police officer, firefighter, rescue or ambulance squad member, corrections facility employee, or active National Guard member who died after January 1, 1976, as a direct result of performing their official duties; or be a child by birth or adoption of a sheriff, deputy sheriff, National Guard member, or other individual who was on federal or state active military duty who died after September 11, 2001, as a direct result of performing their official duties. Applicants must be enrolled at a community college, state-owned institution, or state-related institution as an undergraduate student pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree. The Mary Jo and Donald L. Ritzenthaler Scholarship Fund is open to Union County Private or Public School (Lewisburg Area High School, Mifflinburg Area High School, Shady Grove Christian School) graduating seniors. Applicants must pursue a science or medical related degree including, but not limited to, pre-veterinary medicine, pre-medical, nursing or physician assistant programs. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a degree in pre-veterinary medicine. Applicants must demonstrate care of others, including animals, through volunteerism. The Williamsport Knights Home Association Scholarship Fund is open to St. John Neumann Regional Academy graduating seniors who are current parishioners of the Catholic Church. The John A. Savoy Scholarship Fund is open to South Williamsport Area High School graduating seniors. Applicants must attend an accredited institution of higher education, preferably in Pennsylvania. Applicants must exhibit good citizenship and community involvement, and are not recipients of other major scholarship awards. Other than a strong potential for success, such factors as class rank and grade point average will not be criteria in making a selection unless in the judgment of the selection committee such factors are needed to distinguish between multiple potential candidates.
