In keeping with the goals of renowned artist P. Buckley Moss, who struggled with dyslexia during her school years, this scholarship represents her dedication to young people who have learning differences and have aspirations for a career in the visual arts. The P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who plans a career in the visual arts. Visual arts is defined as art forms that create works which are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking, and photography. Students in the performing arts are not eligible for this scholarship. Performing arts include dance, music, opera, drama, spoken word and circus arts. Filmmaking is only allowed if the student was the main creative force behind the project, such as the director. If the student was acting in someone else's film, they are not eligible. Applied arts are also not eligible. Applied arts include industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, and interior design. Applicants must also have a verified language-related learning difference. Learning differences are defined as disabilities in specific language processing, including but not limited to dyslexia, written expression, reading comprehension, central auditory processing, visual perception, word recognition, and sequencing. Verification of such diagnosis must be provided by a case manager or counselor. Students with ADD or ADHD alone are not eligible. The scholarship may be renewed for up to three consecutive years based on eligibility. Applicants must submit four copies of the application form; two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member at the applicant's school and the other one from a person who knows the applicant outside of the school setting, who is not a relative; and a portfolio consisting of 4 to 6 photos of visual art projects. The Women in Architecture Scholarship is open to students studying architecture or architectural engineering. The Robert W. Thunen Scholarship was established to honor the memory of the late Robert W. Thunen, who was instrumental in many northern California education programs as well as a regional engineer with a territory across several counties in Northern California, Nevada, Oregon or Washington. The scholarship will support the educational interests of an upper-level undergraduate or a graduate student undertaking a lighting-centered project as part of their studies. Fields related to lighting are architecture, electrical engineering, interior design, theater, film/TV, lighting design, vision or a field clearly related to lighting. Special consideration will be given for specific projects or Grad students working toward a thesis about light or lighting. Students must be enrolled in school in northern California, northern Nevada, Oregon or Washington state. At least three letters of recommendation must be submitted, at least one of which shall be from someone involved with lighting professionally or academically. The Alan Lucas Memorial Educational Scholarship was established as part of a generous bequest from the Estate of Alan Lucas, a distinguished interior designer with a great interest in lighting design. Fields related to lighting are architecture, electrical engineering, interior design, theater, film/TV, lighting design, vision or a field clearly related to lighting. The scholarship supports an upper-level undergraduate or a graduate student in a 4-year college or university in Northern California, including San Luis Obispo, Fresno, and north. Special consideration will be given for specific projects or grad students working toward a thesis about light or lighting. Not less than three letters of recommendation shall accompany each application. At least one of these shall be from a person involved in lighting academically or professionally and shall attest to the lighting skills and interest of the applicant. The mission of the John Luttig Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from a Michigan school district who are pursuing an architectural degree at Lawrence Technological University (LTU), Southfield, Michigan. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior from a Michigan school district; have confirmed acceptance into the B.S. Architecture program at LTU and attend such school; and not attend another college or university after graduating from high school. These scholarships will be supplemental for students who have already earned academic scholarships. Consideration will be given to financial need and the student's work and community service record. Students must continue to attend classes and keep a 3.0 grade point average or equivalent. The Association for Women in Architecture Foundation offers annual cash awards to women students studying Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and/or Land Planning, Interior Design, Historic Preservation or Environmental Design leading to a college degree. Applicants must be enrolled in one of the qualifying majors for the current school term. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 18 units in their major by the application due date, or current community college students shall have a minimum of 10 units completed in their major. The Dimitri J. Ververelli Memorial Scholarship for Architecture and/or Engineering is offered to a qualified student pursuing a degree in the field of architecture or engineering. This scholarship was established by Mrs. Anastasia Ververelli to honor her husband, Dimitri J. Ververelli, a past president of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited four-year college or university, or they must be high school seniors accepted for enrollment in such a degree program, and have outstanding academic qualifications. Applicants must also be of Greek descent or a student who has declared major in Hellenic Studies, regardless of heritage. High school seniors may submit their SAT/ACT scores, if available. One recommendation letter is required for undergraduate scholarships. For high school seniors, letters from guidance counselors, academic advisers, teachers, or professors are preferred. Letters from personal acquaintances are to be avoided if possible. For undergraduate students, letters from university professors are preferred but letters from internship supervisors are considered appropriate. Two essays are also required.
